Sometimes a dog comes into our lives and rescues us,or transforms our lives as much as we have theirs.Annie and Rocco have just such a story.
Rocco was a breeding dog. When he was no longer producing he was left at a
shelter. They placed him in a home with small kids. Rocco growled at them, and back he went. Then they put him in another home with small kids(!)in no time he was back at the shelter on death row.LIBR took him in, neutered him, and set to work finding the right home for this big boy.
This is what his new owner says about him...
I just wanted to update you on Rocco. I love that dog something crazy!  He has become my therapy dog. I am not sure if I mentioned I have a very rare heart disease that does not come with good odds. The good news is Rocco and I walk several times everyday. He has lost 15 lbs from the 87 lbs we got him at. He is trim and looking handsome. And I am getting out of the house. Spirits are up for both all of us. He has brought life to a house that was in serious need.
Last Feb. I had congestive heart failure. I was diagnosed with Giant Cell Myocarditis. I am 66th person ever to have it.  I had 11 % chance of living a year. Even higher odds of getting a transplant or death within 5 years.  I was home for almost a year. My husband Wes thought it would be a great idea to get a dog since I am home so much now.  Great Idea and great choice in dog! I am happy to say I am feeling good and plan on beating the odds. Rocco has given me a reason to get out of bed and puts a smile on my face everyday . I couldn't imagine being without him.
Annie
Thank you for bringing him into our lives,

Hi here are some pictures of baby and her new life. Baby is the life and joy of our family, and we are so happy that this little bundle of joy has entered our lives. Baby came to my hospital looking like a small slab of raw meat, she had an extreme case of demodex, and neglection, and she was so bad that when you picked her up, the blisters on her skin would rupture open leaving bloody stains on your shirt. The fist time i laid my eyes apon her, i knew that it was love at first sight. I knew that i had to somehow change this little girls life, and give her the one she deserved. After weeks of baths every day, and constant petting and attention baby was well enough to have a home, and right there i knew that i had to take this little girl. My family instantly fell in love with her clownish acts and loving personality. There is not one time in her presense that you cant help but smile. Today, baby is still undergoing lods of treatments and therapy, but with new hope and a new attitude. For she knows that never, ever again will she be neglected or abandoned, and that she will be comforted and looked after for the rest of her life. Thank you again long island bulldog rescue for making this loving ball of joy a part of our lives.

I would like to preface our success story with a well deserving thanks to Laurette and Long Island Bulldog Rescue, without their kindness I wouldn’t have been introduced to my four legged best friend.  Angelo came to our family with some issues; he had ear infections, entropian and a case of the Bulldog allergies. Angelo was on medicine for the infections and eye drops for the entropian. Bulldog rescue offered to perform the surgery on his eyes but we said we would be glad to pay for it and had it done at our local hospital. Entropian surgery was a major improvement because Angelo could finally see.  After reading a few books on Bulldog care we realized it may be a good idea to have allergy tests performed.  To be honest this was the best 600.00 we ever spent; the tests identified his allergies and provided the knowledge we needed to purchase a food Angelo was not allergic to. Currently Angelo is eating Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance fish and sweet potato.  Once he switched foods he was on an up hill climb making constant improvements and 99% of the allergy symptoms went away. Angelo also takes EFA’s and a natural Pawier Brand Vitamin as well as milk free acidophilus to help his digestion.  With his frequent (2 times a week) Oxy Derm baths and Malacetic Otic cleaning his ears he is in perfect health.  Angelo has brought so much joy to the Schneider household; I can not thank you guys enough! Angelo brightens our everyday with his Bulldog antics and keeps us smiling week after week. God Bless the BCA and the Long Island Bulldog Rescue.

Thank you!  Jason, Amber, Christopher and Darla
